I had another image lined up for today but those of you that know my love of vintage aircraft and maybe have seen on the news today that the B-17 Liberty Belle was involved in a tragic accident yesterday.
Following an in-flight fire an emergency landing was made and thankfully/most importantly all seven crew escaped unharmed. You can read the full statement on the Liberty Belle website above but we're one less airworthy B-17 in the world which is very sad indeed.
I missed the chance to see her in 2008 at Flying Legends when she made an historic trip over from the USA, it was the only Legends show that I've missed for quite some years. So today's image is the Sally B which of course has featured on my blog a few times before. She is the only flying B-17 in the UK and the only one currently flying in Europe which makes her very special indeed, I feel that I appreciate that fact a little more today!
